A cardiologist’s consultation fee in India is a hospital tariff, not a national price. The doctor, the hospital, the city, and the type of appointment all change it. An ECG, an echocardiogram, or a later procedure is usually a different bill.

Cardiologists in India is a directory, not a ranking and not a fee list. City lists include Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Cardiac surgeons in India is a separate list.

1. There Is No Single Consultation Fee

This site does not publish a single fee for a cardiologist consultation in India. Government hospitals, private hospitals, independent clinics, and online services each set their own tariff. A first visit and a follow-up are often different charges. Some hospitals also use different categories for different doctors.

The examples in the quick answer are provider listings, not a GAF Healthcare price and not a national average. Yashoda Hospitals publishes online cardiology consultation fees for selected doctors at approximately ₹1,200–₹1,500. P. D. Hinduja Hospital, Khar, publishes general outpatient categories of ₹2,700 or ₹3,800 for a first consultation and for a repeat consultation after 30 days. Those Hinduja figures are general outpatient categories. Confirm the cardiology fee that applies to the doctor you want to see. Recheck both listings before you book, because tariffs change.

Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital publishes billing and charges information for selected services. Tata Memorial Centre publishes a schedule of charges. Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital describes packages and rates. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has published a CGHS rate revision. None of those pages is a nationwide cardiologist fee, and this article does not turn them into one.

The National Health Systems Resource Centre charter of patient rights is a useful reminder that patients can ask for transparent rates and an itemised bill. Asking is not the same as having a single published number.

2. What Changes the Fee

The doctor’s designation

A senior consultant and another cardiologist at the same hospital may be on different fee categories. Designation, the kind of work that doctor does, and the hospital’s own tariff all play a part. A higher fee does not by itself show that a doctor is the right person for this problem. Relevant experience, a clear explanation, and registration you can check matter as well. The National Medical Register is one place to check a recorded qualification.

The hospital or clinic

A government hospital, a private clinic, and a large private hospital do not share one price. Location, appointment rules, and the fee policy all differ. Do not assume that every cardiologist in one building charges the same amount. Ask for the named doctor and the named appointment.

The city

Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad each contain many different tariffs. Two cardiologists in the same city can charge different fees because the practice and the appointment are different. A city average is a poor substitute for the current tariff. The doctor lists above are directories. They are not city price lists.

A first visit and a follow-up

A first consultation usually covers the history, the symptoms, old tests, and current medicines. A follow-up often reviews results or a change in treatment. Some hospitals charge a repeat visit differently inside a set number of days, and only with the same doctor. Ask how long that window lasts and whether it applies to the doctor you saw.

Online and in person

An online visit can be a practical way to discuss reports you already have, or to ask questions before you travel. The fee may differ from a clinic visit. A video call cannot replace an examination, and some symptoms need to be seen in person or treated as an emergency. Before you pay, ask whether the online fee includes a prescription, a reading of the reports, or a follow-up call.

How complex the problem is

A short follow-up and a first review of several conditions, previous surgery, and a thick file from another hospital are not the same appointment. Ask whether the quoted fee covers the time and the amount of reading you expect.

3. What a Consultation Usually Includes

A visit commonly includes some of the following. The mix depends on the doctor and the appointment.

  • A review of symptoms and medical history
  • A review of current medicines and earlier treatment
  • A look at cardiovascular risk factors
  • A physical examination when it is appropriate
  • A reading of previous reports
  • A preliminary assessment
  • Advice on further tests
  • A discussion of possible treatment options
  • A plan for follow-up

An ECG done during the visit is often billed separately. A long review of records from another hospital, or a formal second opinion, may also be a separate charge. The guide to what to bring to a cardiologist appointment is about the file, not the fee. If the question is a major recommendation you already have, see when to get a second opinion from a cardiologist in India.

4. Tests That Can Sit on a Separate Bill

The cardiologist recommends tests from the symptoms and the history. Not every person needs every test. This site does not publish a price for an ECG, an echocardiogram, a Holter recording, a blood panel, or an exercise stress test. Ask the hospital whether each one is included in the visit or charged on its own, and whether the quote includes the report.

Electrocardiogram

An ECG records the electrical activity of the heart. It can be relevant to chest discomfort, palpitations, and other symptoms. It is not required before every conversation can start. Ask whether it is inside the appointment or on a separate line.

Three chest electrodes connected to a monitor showing a heartbeat wave
An ECG visit is electrodes on the chest and a tracing on a monitor. The wave in this drawing is not a diagnosis.

Echocardiogram

An echocardiogram uses ultrasound to look at the heart’s structure, valves, and pumping. It may be suggested for breathlessness, a murmur, or a suspected valve problem. The type of study changes the tariff. A specialised study can cost more than a standard one. Ask the diagnostic department for the current price and whether the quote includes the report and the interpretation.

Left: a probe on the chest. Right: a circular teaching drawing of the four chambers and valve leaflets. It is not an echocardiogram still.

Blood tests

Blood counts, kidney function, electrolytes, glucose, and other tests are ordered only when they help the question in front of the doctor. The bill follows which tests are requested and where they are done.

Rhythm monitoring

A Holter monitor records the rhythm for a longer stretch. Other devices are used when symptoms are infrequent. The charge depends on the device, how long it is worn, and who reads the report. This drawing is not a tracing from a patient.

Chest electrodes and a small recorder worn on the shirt, beside a regular rhythm strip
A longer rhythm recording uses chest electrodes and a small recorder worn on the shirt. The strip in this drawing looks regular. It is not a diagnosis.

Exercise stress testing

An exercise stress test looks at the heart’s response to exertion in selected people. It is not suitable for everyone. The cardiologist decides after the history and the examination.

Advanced imaging

Cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, and other specialised imaging are not routine for every consultation. They are used when the doctor needs a specific answer about the heart or the blood vessels.

Angiography and procedures

If the assessment points toward a procedure, that procedure is a different service from the outpatient visit. Coronary angiography takes pictures of the coronary arteries. Angioplasty, bypass surgery, valve surgery, a pacemaker, and ablation are further decisions. A recommendation should include the reason, the expected benefit, the risks, and the alternatives. The questions to take into that conversation are in questions to ask before heart surgery.

Left: a clinic examination with a stethoscope. Right: a teaching drawing of a single catheter from the arm to the heart, with coronary vessels drawn on the heart. It is not an angiogram.

5. Published Planning Ranges Are Not the Consultation Fee

Budget for the visit and for anything the doctor may add. Do not treat the consultation fee as the whole cost, and do not treat a procedure range as the price of the visit.

ExpenseWhat to check
Initial consultationThe doctor’s current fee and how long the appointment is
Follow-upThe repeat-visit rule and how long it stays valid
ECGWhether it is included or charged separately
EchocardiogramWhether one is expected, and which type
Blood testsWhich tests, and the charge for each
Rhythm monitoringThe device, the duration, and who reads the report
Further imagingWhether it is clinically needed
MedicinesWhat is prescribed, and any monitoring
Travel and accommodationRelevant if you are coming from another city or country

Consultation only. You bring existing reports and no new service is added. The bill may be the consultation fee alone.

Consultation plus basic tests. The doctor may ask for an ECG, selected blood tests, or an echocardiogram. The total depends on which tests are indicated and on that hospital’s current charges. This site does not publish those test prices.

Consultation followed by a procedure. Rhythm monitoring, advanced imaging, or a procedure such as angiography is a further bill. The figures below are indicative planning ranges from the current cost pages. They are not a hospital quotation, and they are not the consultation fee.

If the visit leads to thisIndia planning rangeTypical stay on the cost page
Coronary angiographyUS$400–US$1,200Day-care or overnight
Coronary angioplasty and stentingUS$3,200–US$8,5001–3 nights typical
CABGUS$5,500–US$14,0007–14 nights, then nearby recovery
Heart valve replacementUS$7,000–US$18,0008–16 nights
TAVR/TAVIUS$18,000–US$42,0003–7 nights typical
Pacemaker implantationUS$3,500–US$9,0001–3 nights
Atrial fibrillation ablationUS$6,500–US$16,0001–3 nights

The angioplasty page lists a US comparison of US$25,000–US$70,000. The CABG page lists US$70,000–US$200,000. The heart valve replacement page lists US$80,000–US$220,000. The TAVR page lists US$50,000–US$150,000. Each of those figures is not an India price. A city filter is the same listing, for example angioplasty in Delhi NCR and Mumbai.

6. Fees by City Are Not City Averages

People search for a cardiologist fee by city. Inside one city the spread is wide. A fee advertised for one doctor does not apply to the city.

Delhi NCR. Check that doctor’s current tariff, where the appointment is, and whether the tests can be done in the same place. If further treatment is possible, ask whether that hospital provides the service and the follow-up.

Mumbai. Ask whether the quote is a first visit, a repeat visit, or a particular doctor’s category. Independent clinics and hospital departments both exist. They do not share one Mumbai fee.

Chennai. Compare the individual fee and the cost of any test that may be added. Ask whether reading records you already have is included.

Bengaluru. Confirm the appointment type and whether the quoted amount includes an ECG or another service.

Hyderabad. Some hospitals publish online cardiology consultation fees. Use the listing to plan, then confirm the current fee for the selected doctor. The Yashoda example in the quick answer is one provider’s listing, not a Hyderabad average.

Other cities. Add travel, access to the tests, and how follow-up will work if you are comparing cities. Heart surgery recovery in India is about the stay after an operation, not about the consultation.

7. Government Hospitals and Private Hospitals

Affordability depends on the institution, who is eligible, which services are needed, and the tariff that applies. There is no rule that every private hospital costs more than every public hospital, or the reverse.

Government hospitals may use an institutional schedule or a public scheme. Eligibility and charges differ. Demand can be high, so ask about the waiting time as well as the fee.

Private hospitals may publish categories and online booking, or they may ask you to confirm the charge by phone. Compare the service, not the label on the building.

  • The doctor’s consultation fee
  • How soon the appointment is
  • Tests that may be needed
  • Whether reports from another hospital can be reviewed
  • The follow-up charge
  • Registration or other administrative fees
  • Access to the right specialist if more care is needed

The lowest consultation fee is not the lowest total if the tests have to be done somewhere else. A higher fee does not by itself establish better care.

8. Online Consultation and an In-Person Visit

An online consultation can help when you want to discuss reports you already have, hear a preliminary view, review a treatment plan, ask questions before you travel, or arrange a follow-up after an in-person visit when the doctor says that is appropriate. The provider should say what information they need and whether the question can be answered remotely.

An in-person visit is needed when the doctor needs an examination, a new test, or an assessment for a procedure. Some symptoms need urgent in-person care rather than a video appointment.

Do not use an online consultation as a substitute for emergency care. Severe chest pain, serious difficulty breathing, fainting, or symptoms of a possible stroke need immediate medical attention.

9. How to Prepare and Avoid Duplicate Tests

Bring the ECGs, echocardiograms, blood results, discharge summaries, and earlier cardiology notes you already have. If you have had angiography, surgery, ablation, or a device, bring those reports. A current medicine list, including supplements and medicines you take only when needed, saves time. Mention allergies. Do not stop a prescribed medicine before the visit unless the treating clinician tells you to.

Write down when symptoms started, how often they happen, how long they last, and what seems to trigger them. Mention breathlessness, dizziness, chest discomfort, or a drop in what you can do.

If a test is recent, ask whether it can be used before a new one is ordered. A repeat is sometimes necessary because the old report is out of date, incomplete, or the wrong test for the current question. Do not assume every repeat is unnecessary.

Before you attend, ask:

  • What is the consultation fee?
  • Is this a first visit or a follow-up?
  • How long does the appointment usually last?
  • Is report review included?
  • Is an ECG included or charged separately?
  • What is the follow-up fee?
  • Are there registration or other extra charges?

10. What International Patients Should Confirm

Patients travelling from Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and elsewhere are budgeting for more than the consultation. The plan can include the appointment, tests, medicines, local transport, accommodation, and follow-up. If a procedure is recommended, the estimate changes. You can message +91 90443 46292 with the reports you already have. The fee still has to be confirmed by the hospital.

Send the cardiac reports, the medicine list, and discharge summaries before you travel. Ask whether the doctor can read them in advance and what is still missing.

Request the current fee for the specific cardiologist and the specific appointment. If you need an interpreter, ask whether language support is available and whether it is an extra charge.

The hospital can describe tests that are commonly considered for a question like yours. The treating doctor decides which tests you need. Ask for an estimate of those tests and whether any package includes them.

If a procedure or an admission is recommended, ask for a written plan and an itemised estimate. Ask what is included, what can be extra, and how the hospital handles a change in the plan.

Before you go home, ask how follow-up, results, and medicine reviews will work from your own country. Take copies of the notes, the reports, and the medicine instructions for your local doctor. ICD implantation cost in India is one example of a device page that is separate from the consultation.

GAF Healthcare helps international patients explore cardiologists and hospitals in India, coordinate medical-record sharing, and arrange appointments and treatment-planning logistics. The treating clinician remains responsible for assessment, diagnosis, tests, and treatment. Consultation fees and treatment estimates are confirmed with the provider.

11. How to Compare Cardiologists Beyond the Fee

Price matters. It is a weak way to choose a cardiologist on its own.

FactorWhat to evaluate
Relevant expertiseDoes this doctor regularly manage the condition you have?
QualificationsCan the qualifications and registration be checked?
CommunicationAre the assessment and the options explained clearly?
Diagnostic accessCan the necessary tests be arranged?
Follow-upIs there a clear way to review results and treatment?
Cost transparencyAre the consultation and the extra charges explained before booking?
ConvenienceDoes the place, or an online visit, actually fit?
CoordinationCan notes be shared with your other doctors?

For a complex condition or a proposed procedure, relevant experience can matter more than the lowest consultation fee. The World Health Organization’s cardiovascular disease fact sheet and the American Heart Association’s heart-health topics are general background. They are not a fee schedule and they are not a treatment plan for one person.

12. When Waiting to Compare Fees Is Unsafe

A consultation fee is never a reason to delay emergency care.

  • Severe or persistent chest pain or pressure
  • Serious difficulty breathing
  • Fainting with concerning symptoms
  • Sudden weakness on one side of the body
  • Sudden difficulty speaking or facial drooping
  • Other symptoms that may be a heart attack, a stroke, or another serious cardiac problem

Do not wait for a routine appointment or an online visit if you may be having a medical emergency. For less urgent symptoms, such as recurring palpitations or a gradual drop in exercise tolerance, arrange a timely assessment. How soon that should be depends on the symptoms.

13. Frequently Asked Questions About Cardiologist Consultation Fees

How much does a cardiologist charge for one consultation in India?

There is no fixed nationwide fee. The charge depends on the doctor, the hospital, the city, and whether the appointment is a first visit or a follow-up. This site does not publish a single fee for a cardiologist consultation. Check the current tariff with the hospital, and ask what the charge includes.

Are cardiologist consultation fees higher in private hospitals?

Fees differ between private hospitals, public hospitals, and independent clinics. There is no rule that every private hospital charges more than every other provider. Compare the actual consultation fee and the services that come with it.

Is the ECG included in the cardiologist consultation fee?

Not always. Some appointments include a basic service and others bill the ECG separately. This site does not publish an ECG price. Confirm the inclusions before the appointment.

What is the cost of an echocardiogram in India?

It depends on the hospital, the type of study, and the current tariff. This site does not publish an echocardiogram price. Ask the diagnostic department for the current charge and whether the quote includes the report and the interpretation.

Are follow-up consultations cheaper than first consultations?

Some hospitals have a separate follow-up fee, or a period during which a repeat visit is charged differently, often with the same doctor. Others do not. Check the policy for the doctor you are booking.

Is an online cardiologist consultation cheaper?

It can be, and it often is not. Online fees vary by doctor and by provider. Confirm the fee and whether the visit includes report review, a prescription, or a follow-up.

Can I consult a cardiologist without an ECG?

Yes. A consultation can start with the symptoms and the history. The doctor decides whether an ECG or another test is needed. An ECG is not automatic for every appointment.

Can I bring my old reports to avoid repeating tests?

Yes. Bring them and ask whether they are enough for this assessment. The doctor may still recommend a repeat if the earlier test is out of date, incomplete, or not the right test for the question.

What should I ask before booking a cardiologist?

Ask for the current consultation fee, whether it is a first visit or a follow-up, how long the follow-up window lasts, whether report review is included, and whether an ECG or any other charge is extra.

How much should international patients budget for a cardiology consultation in India?

The budget is the consultation fee plus any tests, medicines, travel, and accommodation. If further treatment is proposed, the figure changes. Obtain a provider-specific estimate. Do not use a general city average.

Does a more expensive cardiologist provide better treatment?

Not necessarily. The fee does not establish clinical quality. Look at relevant qualifications, experience with your condition, how clearly the options are explained, access to the right tests, and how follow-up works.

Can GAF Healthcare help me find a cardiologist in India?

GAF Healthcare can help international patients explore cardiologists and hospitals, share medical records, and arrange appointments. The consultation fee, the availability, and the clinical recommendations are confirmed with the provider. Message +91 90443 46292.

Are the Yashoda and Hinduja figures a national average?

No. Yashoda Hospitals lists online cardiology consultations for selected doctors at approximately ₹1,200–₹1,500. P. D. Hinduja Hospital, Khar, lists general outpatient categories of ₹2,700 or ₹3,800 for a first visit and a repeat after 30 days. Those are examples from specific providers, not a national average, and the Hinduja categories are not a confirmed cardiology-only fee.

If the visit leads to angiography, angioplasty, or bypass, what ranges are published?

Those are procedure ranges, not the consultation fee. The cost pages list coronary angiography at US$400–US$1,200, typically day-care or overnight; coronary angioplasty and stenting at US$3,200–US$8,500, with 1–3 nights typical; and CABG at US$5,500–US$14,000, with 7–14 nights, then nearby recovery. They are indicative planning ranges, not a quotation.

Is a US comparison band an India price?

No. The angioplasty US comparison of US$25,000–US$70,000 and the CABG US comparison of US$70,000–US$200,000 are not an India price. Each of those figures is not an India price. Use the India planning range, then ask the hospital for a written estimate.

Does a city page on this site show a different consultation fee?

No. This site does not publish a cardiologist consultation fee for Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, or any other city. A city filter on a procedure cost page is the same procedure listing, not a local consultation tariff.

Conclusion: Confirm the Fee Before You Book

Cardiologist consultation fees in India vary by doctor, hospital, city, and appointment type. The visit is only one part of the expense when tests or a procedure are added. Confirm the current fee, ask what is included, check the follow-up rule, and bring the records you already have. If a procedure is recommended, ask for an itemised estimate and for the clinical reason.
