Dr. V. Suresh Babu — Consultant Nephrologist in Hyderabad

Dr. V. Suresh Babu is a Consultant Nephrologist at Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad, in Hyderabad, with more than 21 years of experience.

His list is weighted toward dialysis in its several forms. Alongside haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis he provides continuous renal replacement therapy and sustained low-efficiency dialysis, two methods used when a patient is too unstable for a standard session. The medical work covers chronic kidney disease, glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome and polycystic kidney disease, with percutaneous renal biopsy for diagnosis, and the transplant work covers pre-transplant evaluation and post-transplant follow-up.

He holds an MD and a DM in nephrology.

His research covers three separate areas of the specialty. One is an analysis of 1720 biomixer, a dialysis-side study of the kind that only a high-volume unit can produce. The second is acute renal failure in HELLP syndrome, a complication of pregnancy in which the kidneys fail alongside the liver and the blood count, and the third is renal rickets, the bone disease that follows chronic kidney disease in children.

Taken together, those three subjects span the dialysis circuit, obstetric emergency and paediatric bone disease, which is a wider range than most single-centre research records cover.

He is a member of the Indian Society of Nephrology, the International Society of Nephrology and the ISN Southern Chapter, and practises at Yashoda Hospitals in Secunderabad.
