Dr. Sanjay Gogoi

Dr. Sanjay Gogoi is the Chairman of Urology, Kidney Transplant & Uro-Oncology at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram. A highly accomplished urologist with more than 25 years of comprehensive experience, he is recognised nationally and internationally for his excellence in complex and challenging urological procedures, particularly reconstructive urology and kidney transplantation.

Dr. Gogoi has performed over 1,000 renal transplants with outcomes that match global benchmarks. He has a distinction in conducting one of the largest series of paediatric kidney transplants in India and is widely acclaimed for undertaking transplants in rehabilitated bladders, including pre-transplant augmentation cystoplasty, neobladders with continent diversion, and other highly complex reconstructive procedures before transplantation.

He is trained in robotic surgery and has extensive experience performing robotic procedures for both benign and malignant diseases of the kidney, bladder, prostate, and adrenal glands. His forte includes Retzius-sparing robotic radical prostatectomy, radical cystectomy with orthotopic neobladder, and robotic kidney transplantation in patients with high BMI.

Almost 30% of Dr. Gogoi's cases come from the CIS states, Africa, SARC, and Gulf countries, and he has treated hundreds of war victims with genitourinary trauma from Sri Lanka and the Middle East. He has previously headed Urology and Renal Transplantation departments at Apollo Hospital Colombo, Fortis Memorial Research Institute (Gurgaon), Manipal Hospital (Delhi), and Max Super Speciality Hospital (Dwarka).
