Dr. S. Sita Jayalakshmi is a Senior Consultant Neurologist at KIMS Hospitals in Secunderabad, Hyderabad, with more than 29 years of experience.

Epilepsy runs through the whole of her record. Her clinical list names epilepsy treatment and drug-resistant epilepsy first, then Alzheimer's disease and dementia, Parkinson's disease, dystonia, tremor disorders, motor neuron disease, myasthenia gravis, migraine with chronic headache, stroke treatment and recovery, and neuro rehabilitation for movement disorders. EEG is her diagnostic mainstay, with IV thrombolysis, deep brain stimulation, botulinum toxin therapy, IVIG and migraine nerve block among the treatments.

Her degrees came from two institutions. She read MBBS at Andhra Medical College in Waltair and Visakhapatnam between 1983 and 1988 and returned there for an MD in general medicine from 1990 to 1993, then took her DM in neurology at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad from 1994 to 1996. Two later certifications are specific to epilepsy work: ASEPA-ASNA EEG certification and the VIREPA neuroimaging course in epilepsy. NIMS was her earlier base before KIMS.

Teaching is what her awards keep returning to. She left with the "Eenadu" Gold Medal as best outgoing student in neurology for 1994 to 1996, was named a Be Master Teacher by the Institute of Neurology in Chennai in 2021, and received the AB Baker Teacher Recognition Award from the American Academy of Neurology in 2023. Her paper at the 14th Annual Meeting of the Infantile Seizure Society in Tokyo in 2012 took the JSCN award for an excellent paper. She is treasurer of the Indian Epilepsy Society.
