Dr. Rajesh Sharma

Dr. Rajesh Sharma is one of India's most experienced and distinguished cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons, with a specialisation that spans both paediatric and adult cardiac surgery. Over a career of more than three decades, he has performed over 20,000 heart surgeries, establishing himself as a national authority in neonatal and infant cardiac surgery, complex congenital heart disease correction, and advanced adult cardiac procedures.

Currently serving as Program Clinical Director – Paediatric (Ped) Cardiac Surgery at Marengo Asia Hospitals, Faridabad, Dr. Sharma brings exceptional expertise in surgery for transposition of the great arteries, Fontan circulation, biventricular repair for heterotaxy and complex congenital defects, and double-switch operations for congenitally corrected transposition. His deep familiarity with high-risk re-do operations and paediatric valve repair sets him apart as a surgeon willing to take on cases others decline.

Dr. Sharma received his foundational and specialist training at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi — one of the most competitive medical institutions in the world — obtaining his MBBS, MS in General Surgery, and MCh in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery there. He went on to complete two fellowships in paediatric cardiovascular surgery in the United States: at the Marry Ann Knight Hospital for Children, Miami, and at a Children's Hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School, Boston.

Beyond his surgical practice, Dr. Sharma has been deeply involved in teaching and mentoring cardiac surgery trainees throughout his career, including during his tenure as Additional Professor at AIIMS. He has published widely in national and international peer-reviewed journals and is a sought-after speaker at cardiac surgery conferences.
