Dr. Amit Chandra is the Director of Cardiac Surgery at Medanta – The Medicity in Delhi NCR, one of India's leading cardiac surgery programs. With over 28 years of clinical experience, Dr. Chandra has established himself as a pioneering cardiac surgeon, having completed more than 10,000 cardiac operations throughout his career. He holds advanced qualifications including an MCh in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and received specialized training at the prestigious Texas Heart Institute in the USA under the guidance of Dr. Denton A. Cooley.

Dr. Chandra's clinical expertise encompasses a comprehensive range of cardiac procedures, with particular distinction in complex mitral valve repair. He has been performing independent cardiac surgery since 1998 and is recognized as one of very few surgeons in India with exceptional proficiency in complex mitral valve repairs. Notably, Dr. Chandra pioneered the "Medanta Correction" technique, an innovative approach to mitral valve repair that has gained international recognition. His surgical work has been presented twice at the prestigious Mitral Conclave in New York, USA, and earned him a Travel Award for Best Paper at the Asian Cardiovascular Surgery Society Annual Conference in Istanbul in 2014.
