Dr. Rahul Naithani — Chief of Hematology in Delhi NCR

Dr. Rahul Naithani is Chief of Hematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant at Artemis Hospital in Delhi NCR, with more than 15 years of experience. His profile records hematology and BMT together with medical oncology.

Six of the entries on his clinical list are kinds of transplant: allogeneic, autologous, haploidentical, matched sibling donor, matched unrelated donor and pediatric bone marrow transplant. To list them separately is meaningful, because the donor source is what determines the risk and the preparation for each patient, and a unit that offers all of them can treat a patient whatever donor is available.

The conditions treated are acute and chronic leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes and pediatric thalassemia. That last entry, together with pediatric bone marrow transplant, reflects his first degree: his MD is in paediatrics rather than in general medicine, which is an unusual route into adult hematology.

His other qualifications are a DM in clinical hematology, a fellowship in bone marrow transplantation and FRCP from Edinburgh. He practises at Artemis Hospitals in Gurugram.

His editorial and society work is substantial. He is executive editor of the Indian Journal of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and an executive committee member of the Indian Society of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, the same society that gave him second prize in 2006. He also holds a best presentation award from the European School of Oncology in 2008 and the Meena Dhamija Award from API Delhi in 2007.
