Dr. Christina Johnsson

Dr. Christina Johnsson is a Consultant Endocrinologist at Burjeel Medical City, Abu Dhabi, with more than two decades of clinical experience in endocrinology, diabetes management, and internal medicine. She completed her medical degree at Uppsala University, Sweden in 2001, and went on to earn specialist certification in Internal Medicine from the National Swedish Board of Health and Welfare in 2009, followed by specialist certification in Endocrinology and Diabetes in 2017. She practiced extensively in Sweden before relocating to the UAE in 2020.

Dr. Johnsson specializes in the comprehensive management of all forms of diabetes, including type 1, type 2, monogenic, and secondary diabetes, as well as diabetes-related complications. She has particular expertise in managing diabetes during pregnancy, gestational diabetes care, and preconception counselling for patients with endocrine conditions.

Beyond diabetes, Dr. Johnsson's clinical interests encompass thyroid disease, pituitary disorders, adrenal disease, calcium metabolism disorders, and growth and developmental disorders. She also manages lipid disorders, osteoporosis, and obesity through pharmacological, lifestyle, and surgical follow-up approaches. Known for her patient-centred and approachable manner, she provides inpatient and outpatient care for acute and chronic endocrine conditions.
