Dr. Ashok K. Vaid is a distinguished medical oncologist and stem cell transplant specialist with more than four decades of clinical experience. He currently serves as Chairman, Medical Oncology, Hematology and Stem Cell Transplant at the Medanta Cancer Institute, Gurgaon — one of India's largest cancer programmes. Dr. Vaid established one of the largest stem cell transplant programmes in the private sector in north India. His clinical interests centre on cancer genomics, immunotherapy guidance, precision onco-therapeutics, dendritic cell therapy, and stem cell transplantation. He has performed and supervised some of the earliest bone marrow transplants in the country, including the first 25 BMTs done at his earlier institution. He earned his Doctor of Medicine (DM) in Medical Oncology from Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai, and has authored several peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Vaid has served as Principal Investigator for more than 50 international and national clinical studies, and is a registered postgraduate teacher with the National Board of Examinations and a panel examiner for super-specialty Medical Oncology. In recognition of his exceptional contribution to medicine, the Government of India conferred upon him the prestigious Padma Shri Award in 2009.
