What is Lung Transplantation?
Lung transplantation replaces one or both irreversibly diseased lungs with deceased-donor organs; heart-lung transplantation is reserved for selected combined cardiopulmonary disease. It is a regulated allocation treatment with major surgery, ICU care and lifelong immunosuppression—not an organ that an international patient can buy or schedule.
