Dr. Mohamed Diaa Sarhan

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa Sarhan is an internationally recognized professor and consultant in general, bariatric and metabolic surgery with more than two decades of academic and surgical experience. He holds the position of Professor of General and Bariatric Surgery at Cairo University, where he has advanced through the full academic pathway while maintaining active clinical practice, postgraduate education and research responsibilities.

Prof. Sarhan has performed over 20,000 bariatric procedures with an annual operative volume of approximately 1,500–2,000 cases. His surgical expertise encompasses primary and revisional bariatric surgery including laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, one-anastomosis gastric bypass, SADI and SASI procedures, adjustable gastric banding and advanced robotic surgery. By early 2026, he had completed 250 robotic general and bariatric procedures and holds international robotic proctorship credentials.

Prof. Sarhan is the founder and CEO of Sarhan Obesity Clinic and ABC – Arab Bariatric and Plastic Center, an accredited standalone Bariatric and Metabolic Center of Excellence in Egypt. He is an active instructor for international bariatric masterclasses, advanced courses and clinical immersion programmes, and contributes to peer-reviewed publications and presentations at major international surgical meetings.
