Prof. Dr. Iyad Hassan

Prof. Dr. Iyad Hassan is Head of Department and Consultant General, Endocrine and Cancer Surgeon at Burjeel Medical City in Abu Dhabi. He holds 23 years of clinical experience and is nationally and internationally recognized for his expertise in complex minimally invasive procedures including laparoscopic adrenalectomy, thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, pancreatectomy, colorectal resections, achalasia, and anti-reflux surgery.

Training at Philipps University Marburg in Germany and the University Hospital of Marburg, where he served as an Endocrine and Surgical Oncology Consultant for ten years, established his foundation in endocrine and oncological surgery. In 2009 he relocated to Abu Dhabi, where he held the position of Chairman of General, Vascular, and Thoracic Surgery at a major governmental hospital for five years. He has performed over 15,000 major surgeries, including approximately 3,000 complex cancer procedures.

Prof. Hassan is recognized as a pioneer in thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal gland, and pancreatic surgery, with particular expertise in minimally invasive techniques. According to Abu Dhabi Department of Health statistics, he and his team perform one-third of all thyroid surgeries and more than half of all adrenal and parathyroid surgeries annually in the Emirate. He is fluent in Arabic, English, French, and German.
