Dr. Matthew Tytherleigh

Dr. Matthew Tytherleigh is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with 15 years of clinical experience. He completed his general surgical training at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford under Professor Neil Mortenson and obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2006. He earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree for research conducted at Oxford's Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine under Professor Sir Walter Bodmer, with his dissertation focused on antibody treatment of colorectal cancer.

Dr. Tytherleigh undertook specialist colorectal training at Concord Hospital in Sydney, Australia under Professor Les Bokey, and was subsequently awarded the Covidien Laparoscopic Colorectal Traveling Fellowship. His postgraduate recognition includes a Royal College of Surgeons Research Fellowship, an Oxfordshire Research Grant, and travel fellowships to Stockholm, Grenada, and Melbourne. He progressed from a locum consultant position at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge to a substantive appointment at Ipswich Hospital, where he led clinical governance initiatives including an enhanced recovery program, earning him a Clinical Excellence Award in 2011.

Dr. Tytherleigh is board certified in colorectal cancer, laparoscopic surgery, inflammatory bowel disease and colitis, proctology, fecal incontinence, prolapse and hernia surgery, and advanced colonoscopy. He co-authored the Colorectal Surgery chapter in The New Aird's Companion to Surgical Studies, the standard UK surgical trainee textbook, and has published more than 20 peer-reviewed research articles with over 30 national and international presentations.
