Cardiac Care in Delhi NCR: What the Region Offers

Delhi NCR has the densest concentration of cardiac centres in India, and for an international patient that changes what is worth asking about.

1. Choice Is Genuine Here

Several large cardiac programmes operate within the region, including one hospital built as a dedicated cardiac institute rather than a general hospital with a heart department.

  • That means a real second opinion is available without leaving the region

  • It also means you can compare quotes between comparable centres

  • And it means a heart team review is easier to arrange than in a city with one cardiac unit

2. Round-the-Clock Primary Angioplasty

Several NCR centres run emergency angioplasty services continuously rather than in working hours only. For anyone with coronary disease staying in the region, that matters more than any planned procedure.

Ask which hospitals near your accommodation run that service, and note it before you need it.

3. Both Routes Under One Roof

  • Interventional cardiology, for stents and catheter-based valve work

  • Cardiac surgery, for bypass and valve operations

Because both sit in the same institutions, the heart team decision described on the national cardiology page is straightforward to arrange. Ask for it.

4. Consultations in English

Clinical work at the major centres runs in English, so you can read your own angiogram and echocardiogram reports and carry home a discharge summary your own doctor can act on. Interpreters for Arabic, French, Russian and Kiswahili are available at most of these hospitals.

5. The Honest Trade-off

Air quality across the region is poor from roughly late October to January. For a cardiac patient this is not a comfort issue: air pollution is a recognised cardiovascular risk factor, and the period coincides with respiratory infection season.

Section 10 covers what to discuss with your cardiologist about timing. None of it justifies delaying urgent treatment.

Heart Treatment in Delhi NCR: A Patient's Guide

1. What This Page Covers

This page deals with cardiac treatment in Delhi NCR specifically: which centres do what, how the region's geography affects your planning, what it costs and how long you will be here.

For the clinical questions, including how the stent-versus-bypass decision is made, what medication follows a stent, and the choice between mechanical and tissue valves, see cardiologists across India. That page sets all of it out.

2. If Chest Pain Starts While You Are Here

Read this before anything else, and read it whether you are here for treatment or for something else entirely.

Call emergency services. Go to the nearest hospital with a cardiac catheterisation laboratory. Do not travel across the NCR to the hospital you chose.

In a heart attack, the time to opening the blocked artery determines how much heart muscle survives. An hour spent crossing the region to reach a preferred surgeon is an hour of muscle lost. Every large cardiac centre in the NCR can treat a heart attack.

Before you need it:

  • Find out which hospitals near your accommodation run round-the-clock emergency angioplasty

  • Write the name and address down, in English and in the local script if you can

  • Keep your medical summary, medicine list and any stent card with you rather than in a suitcase

  • If you have had a stent, carry the card stating what was implanted

The warning signs are chest pain, pressure or heaviness lasting more than a few minutes; pain spreading to the arm, jaw, neck, back or stomach; sudden breathlessness; cold sweat or nausea with any of these; or collapse. Women, people with diabetes and older adults often present without classic chest pain.

3. Where the Cardiac Centres Are

The region's cardiac programmes are spread across Delhi and the surrounding cities rather than clustered together:

  • Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Okhla, south Delhi, built as a dedicated cardiac institute

  • Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, south-east Delhi

  • Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi

  • Medanta, Gurugram

  • Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram

  • BLK-Max, central Delhi

  • Max Super Speciality, several NCR locations

  • Artemis, Gurugram

  • Manipal, Dwarka, west Delhi

The listing on this page shows which hospital each cardiologist works at. Not all of these run the same volume of every procedure, so ask about yours specifically.

4. Delhi NCR Is Not One City

The region covers Delhi plus Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad, and the cardiac centres sit across all of them.

Two hospitals both described as being in Delhi NCR can be ninety minutes apart in traffic. Gurugram to east Delhi in the evening peak is a serious journey.

This matters for three practical reasons:

  • Emergency access, as section 2 explains

  • Follow-up visits before you are cleared to fly, which mean repeating the journey

  • Accommodation, which should be near your hospital rather than near anything else

Find out exactly which city your centre is in before booking a hotel.

5. Getting a Second Opinion Without Leaving

The region's density has one practical advantage worth using.

If you have been told you need bypass surgery and want a second view, several comparable centres sit within an hour of each other. Sending your angiogram images to two of them is realistic here in a way it is not everywhere.

That is worth doing when:

  • The recommendation is bypass rather than stenting, or the reverse

  • You have been told your disease is inoperable

  • The quoted cost differs substantially from published ranges

  • Nobody has told you whether a cardiac surgeon reviewed your angiogram

Send images rather than reports. The national page explains why.

6. Which Centre for Which Procedure

Rather than choosing a hospital by name, choose by what you need and ask volume questions.

  • For coronary stenting: annual angioplasty volume, whether intravascular imaging is used routinely, and whether the centre runs emergency angioplasty round the clock

  • For bypass surgery: annual bypass volume, whether beating-heart surgery is offered, and how many arterial grafts are typically used

  • For valve surgery: annual valve volume, and whether repair is attempted before replacement

  • For catheter valve replacement: annual volume specifically, since this is a newer procedure and experience varies more between centres than for bypass

  • For rhythm procedures: whether the centre has a dedicated electrophysiology laboratory rather than shared catheterisation facilities

That last point separates centres more than most patients realise.

7. What Each Procedure Involves

Rather than repeat the national page, these are the treatment guides for each route:

8. Records to Send Before You Travel

  • Angiogram images, not the report alone, if one has been performed

  • Echocardiogram report and images

  • ECG tracings, including any recorded during symptoms

  • Recent blood results with kidney function

  • Stress test or CT angiogram reports

  • Current medicine list with doses

  • Details of diabetes or kidney disease

  • Where stenting or surgery has already been done, the full procedure record

A remote review before you book is worth more here than almost anywhere, because the region has enough comparable centres that the answer may change which one you travel to.

9. Published Costs

Indicative published ranges, checked August 2026, in US dollars. Not quotes.

  • Angioplasty with one stent: roughly 3,000 to 7,000 depending on stent type and complexity, with published figures elsewhere starting from about 5,000 and roughly 2,000 added per additional stent

  • Bypass surgery: roughly 4,400 to 8,500 across sources, with several clustering at 5,500 to 7,500

  • Robotic bypass: roughly 7,000 to 9,000

  • Surgical valve replacement: from about 4,000, with ranges of 3,000 to 8,500

  • Catheter aortic valve replacement: roughly 14,500 to 30,000, the device being the largest component

  • Accommodation near the hospital: from about 18 to 50 per person per day

Two things worth noting.

The device drives the price more than the hospital does. A stent, a valve or a catheter-delivered valve is a manufactured product, and it is where quotes usually differ. Ask which device is proposed and what it costs, itemised separately.

Compare quotes within the region. Because several comparable centres sit close together, getting two written estimates is realistic here. A large gap between them is worth asking about rather than assuming reflects quality.

10. Timing and Air Quality

Air quality across the NCR is poor from roughly late October to January, and that period is also the respiratory infection season.

For a cardiac patient this is worth raising rather than ignoring. Air pollution is a recognised cardiovascular risk factor, and you will be here for recovery as well as the procedure.

Two things to discuss with your cardiologist:

  • Whether your procedure is elective enough to schedule outside those months

  • What they advise about outdoor activity during recovery if you are here in that period

February to April and September to October are the more comfortable months. Where treatment is urgent, none of this applies. A blocked artery does not wait for better air.

11. Length of Stay

Published guidance gives roughly:

  • Angioplasty and stenting: about two days in hospital, and one to two weeks in the country

  • Bypass surgery: about a week in hospital, and two to three weeks in the region

  • Valve surgery: similar to bypass, sometimes longer

Recovery after bypass continues well beyond the trip, commonly six to twelve weeks before normal activity resumes.

Clearance to fly is written and conditional. Do not book a return flight around the discharge date, and factor in the follow-up visits that happen before clearance.

12. Looking Wider

For the clinical detail behind every decision on this page, see our national cardiology directory.

For heart conditions in children, a separate specialty entirely, see paediatric cardiologists in India.

To discuss your own reports, send them to us on WhatsApp at wa.me/919044346292 or by email at care@gaf.healthcare. Angiogram images are the most useful thing you can send.

How to Select the Best Doctor for Cardiology in Delhi NCR, India?

Choosing the right cardiology surgeon is one of the most important decisions in your treatment journey. A few factors are worth weighing before you decide:

Experience and Expertise

Look for a surgeon with a strong track record in cardiology specifically, not just general surgery. Years of listed experience — shown on every profile below — is a reasonable starting point.

Specialization

Cardiology covers a wide range of procedures, from routine endoscopic work to complex organ transplants. Check that the doctor's listed procedures (see "Procedures in cardiology" below) actually match the treatment you need.

Hospital Affiliation

The hospital matters as much as the surgeon. Look for an accredited centre with a dedicated gastroenterology/HPB (hepatopancreatobiliary) unit, ICU support, and experience treating international patients — see "Hospitals where these doctors operate" below.

Communication and Second Opinions

You should be able to get clear answers about your case before committing to travel. Ask for a written second opinion on your reports, in a language you're comfortable in, before you decide.

Transparent Costs

Ask for an itemised, all-inclusive estimate — surgeon's fee, hospital charges and stay — before you travel, so there are no surprises once treatment begins. Our cost calculator (linked below) gives a starting estimate.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions about Cardiology in Delhi NCR, India

What should I do if I get chest pain while in Delhi NCR?
Call emergency services and go to the nearest hospital with a cardiac catheterisation laboratory. Do not travel across the region to the hospital you chose. In a heart attack, the time to opening the blocked artery determines how much heart muscle survives, and every large cardiac centre in the NCR can treat one. Find out which hospitals near your accommodation run round-the-clock emergency angioplasty before you need it.
Which hospitals in Delhi NCR do cardiac treatment?
Cardiac programmes run at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute in Okhla, which was built as a dedicated cardiac institute, Indraprastha Apollo and Apollo Hospitals in Delhi, Medanta and Fortis Memorial in Gurugram, BLK-Max in central Delhi, Max at several NCR locations, Artemis in Gurugram and Manipal in Dwarka. Not all run the same volume of every procedure, so ask about yours specifically.
Does it matter which part of the NCR my hospital is in?
Yes, for three reasons: emergency access, since two hospitals both described as Delhi NCR can be ninety minutes apart in traffic; follow-up visits before you are cleared to fly, which mean repeating the journey; and accommodation, which should be near your hospital rather than near anything else. Find out exactly which city your centre is in before booking a hotel.
Can I get a second opinion without leaving the region?
Realistically, yes, and this is the region's main practical advantage. Several comparable cardiac centres sit within an hour of each other, so sending your angiogram images to two of them is achievable here in a way it is not everywhere. Worth doing if the recommendation is bypass rather than stenting or the reverse, if you have been told your disease is inoperable, or if a quote differs substantially from published ranges.
How do I choose between the cardiac centres here?
By what you need rather than by name. For stenting, ask annual angioplasty volume and whether emergency angioplasty runs round the clock, and for bypass, ask annual volume and how many arterial grafts are typically used. For catheter valve replacement, ask annual volume specifically, since experience varies more between centres for newer procedures. For rhythm work, ask whether there is a dedicated electrophysiology laboratory.
Which centre has a dedicated electrophysiology laboratory?
Ask each one directly, because this separates centres more than most patients realise. A dedicated electrophysiology laboratory is not the same as a shared cardiac catheterisation facility, and for ablation and complex device work it matters. If rhythm treatment is why you are travelling, make this one of your first questions rather than an afterthought.
Should I have my heart procedure here or somewhere with cleaner air?
If your procedure is urgent, have it here. A blocked artery does not wait for better air. If it is genuinely elective, air quality across the NCR is poor from roughly late October to January and that period coincides with respiratory infection season. Air pollution is a recognised cardiovascular risk factor, so it is a reasonable thing to raise with your cardiologist when scheduling.
When is the best time of year to come?
February to April and September to October are the more comfortable months. Late October to January brings poor air quality alongside the respiratory infection season, which matters for a cardiac patient recovering here rather than just visiting. Ask your cardiologist what they advise about outdoor activity during recovery if you are here in that period.
How much does cardiac treatment cost in Delhi NCR?
Published figures put angioplasty with one stent at roughly 3,000 to 7,000 US dollars depending on stent type and complexity, with roughly 2,000 added per additional stent. Bypass surgery is quoted at roughly 4,400 to 8,500 across sources, robotic bypass at 7,000 to 9,000, surgical valve replacement from about 4,000, and catheter aortic valve replacement at roughly 14,500 to 30,000. Indicative figures checked August 2026.
Why do quotes differ between hospitals here?
Usually because of the device rather than the hospital. A stent, a valve or a catheter-delivered valve is a manufactured product with a real cost, and it is where quotes differ most. Ask which device is proposed and what it costs, itemised separately from the procedure. Because comparable centres sit close together here, getting two written estimates is realistic.
What should I send before travelling?
Angiogram images rather than the report alone if one has been performed, plus the echocardiogram report and images, ECG tracings including any during symptoms, recent blood results with kidney function, stress test or CT angiogram reports, a current medicine list, and details of diabetes or kidney disease. Where stenting or surgery has already been done, send the full procedure record.
How long will I need to be in Delhi NCR?
Published guidance gives about two days in hospital and one to two weeks in the country for angioplasty, and about a week in hospital with two to three weeks in the region for bypass surgery. Valve surgery is similar to bypass or longer. Recovery after bypass continues beyond the trip, commonly six to twelve weeks before normal activity resumes.
What should I carry with me while I am here?
Your medical summary, current medicine list, and if you have a stent, the card stating exactly what was implanted. Keep these on you rather than in a suitcase. Also write down the name and address of the nearest hospital with round-the-clock emergency angioplasty, in English and if possible in the local script, before you need it.
Are children with heart problems treated on this page?
No. Paediatric cardiology is a separate specialty with different surgeons, different anaesthesia, different intensive care and follow-up running across decades of growth. Seniority in adult cardiac work does not transfer. If your child has a heart condition, see our paediatric cardiology directory rather than this one.
How are the doctors on this page chosen and ordered?
They are not hand-picked: doctors whose recorded specialty is adult cardiology and whose practice is in Delhi NCR appear automatically, ordered by years of listed experience, longest first. Read that as a sort rather than a verdict. A featured tag means the placement was arranged. We publish no star ratings or success rates, because those figures cannot be verified from outside a hospital.
Is GAF Healthcare a hospital?
No. We arrange treatment rather than provide it: opinions from Indian specialists, written estimates from hospitals, appointments, visa documents, transfers, accommodation and interpreters. We employ no doctors and take no part in your clinical care. Our income comes from the hospitals we work with rather than from patients, so take the plan and estimate in writing from the hospital and check both against advice you trust at home.
