What is Tympanoplasty?
Tympanoplasty repairs a perforated eardrum and, when needed, the middle-ear mechanism, aiming to reduce infection risk and support hearing in selected patients. Through the ear canal or a small post-auricular incision, the surgeon places a graft (often temporalis fascia or cartilage) to close the perforation and may reconstruct ossicles if they are diseased.
