Dr. Vimee Bindra Basu — Senior Consultant in Hyderabad

Dr. Vimee Bindra Basu is a Senior Consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology at Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, with more than 17 years of experience.

Her practice covers abnormal uterine bleeding, ovarian cysts, chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis. She operates laparoscopically and hysteroscopically as well as by the open route: laparoscopic hysterectomy and hysterectomy, laparoscopic myomectomy and myomectomy, hysteroscopic polypectomy and uterine polyp removal, endometrial ablation, ovarian cyst surgery, endometriosis surgery, and surgery for pelvic organ prolapse.

She qualified MBBS and took an MS in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and also holds an MHA and the FICOG. Her surgical training came through a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery, a clinical fellowship and diploma in advanced gynaecological surgery, and a fellowship in cosmetic gynaecology.

The rest of her training was taken in short, targeted blocks with named teachers. She trained in colposcopy under Dr. P.S. Basu at the Cancer Institute in Kolkata, and in basic ultrasound in obstetrics and gynaecology under Dr. Kamal Oswal, also in Kolkata. She took advanced laparoscopy and hysteroscopy training at Clermont Ferrand in France, advanced training in infertility and ART under Dr. Sunita Tandulwadkar in Pune, and was a clinical fellow in gynaec endoscopy at BEAMS, Mumbai.

Her recognitions include the Telangana Women Leaders Award in 2022, the Young Clinician Award from the Apollo Group of Hospitals in 2020, the Women Healthcare Leadership Award, the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Memorial Excellence Award, and being named Best Emerging Gynaecologist of Hyderabad in 2020.
