Dr. Ritabh Kumar — Director of Orthopedics & Chief of Trauma Services in Delhi NCR

Dr. Ritabh Kumar is Director of Orthopedics and Chief of Trauma Services at the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre in the Delhi NCR, with more than 33 years of experience. His profile records orthopedics together with pediatric orthopedics.

His list is a trauma list rather than a replacement one. He performs fracture fixation, non-union repair and tendon repair, and treats osteomyelitis and limb length discrepancy. His arthroscopic work covers ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair and rotator cuff repair.

Both of his Indian degrees were taken at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences: the MBBS and the MS in orthopaedics. He then took the MCh in orthopaedics in the United Kingdom and holds the MNAMS, and completed international fellowships in orthopaedic trauma in Italy and Australia. Those two placements are the subspecialty foundation of the trauma service he now heads.

His recognition runs from his student years through to his present teaching. He won the Prof. Ramalingaswami Prize for best intern at the Comprehensive Rural Health Services Project at AIIMS in 1993, was named Best Worker at the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre in 2001, and received the Professorial Award for Academic Excellence from the University of Dundee in 2003. He has been national faculty for AO Trauma courses from 2012 onwards and sits on the executive board of Maharaja Agrasen Medical College in Agroha.

Before the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre at Vasant Kunj he worked at Medanta The Medicity in Gurgaon and at Max Hospitals, so his career has been spent in the Delhi NCR since his AIIMS training.
