Dr. Prashanth Rao — Director and Senior Consultant in Mumbai

Dr. Prashanth Rao is Director and a Senior Consultant at Gleneagles Hospital in Mumbai, with more than 34 years of experience. His profile records surgical gastroenterology alongside general surgery, bariatric and metabolic surgery, and GI-related surgical oncology.

His list covers the upper gut, the pancreas and the liver. He performs anti-reflux surgery by Nissen fundoplication, gastrectomy, the Whipple procedure, pancreatectomy and liver tumor surgery.

His qualifications run to nine entries and are weighted towards laparoscopy. Earlier he took 1st rank in his MS and the Dr. AV Baliga Memorial Prize.

He has more than 40 peer-reviewed publications in reputed journals and has written three or more book chapters on laparoscopic surgery, so the technique that shapes his fellowships and his awards also shapes his writing.
