Dr. Phanendra Kumar Gubbala — Consultant in Chennai

Dr. Phanendra Kumar Gubbala is Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist at Apollo Proton Cancer Centre, Chennai, with more than 9 years of experience. He has also practised at Apollo Hospitals in Ahmedabad.

His surgical work covers the gynaecological cancers. He performs radical hysterectomy and operates on cervical, ovarian and endometrial cancer, as well as on the less common vulvar and vaginal cancers. Sentinel lymph node biopsy is used for nodal assessment, so that the nodes most at risk can be examined without clearing the whole basin. For disease that has spread across the peritoneum he performs cytoreductive surgery with HIPEC.

He qualified MBBS and is a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. His subspecialty training was a fellowship in gynaecological oncology at The Christie Cancer Hospital in Manchester, United Kingdom, and he holds the Fellowship of the European Board of Gynaecologists, a qualification held by only a few Indian physicians.
