Dr. Nikhil Agrawal — Senior Consultant in Delhi NCR

Dr. Nikhil Agrawal is Senior Consultant and GI-HPB Surgical Oncologist at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in the Delhi NCR, with more than 19 years of experience. He also works at the Apollo Athenaa Women's Cancer Centre.

His practice covers the gastrointestinal tract and the hepatopancreatobiliary organs. He performs pancreatic cancer surgery, gallbladder and bile duct cancer surgery, and liver cancer surgery, alongside esophageal, gastric, small intestine and colorectal cancer surgery, so his list runs the length of the digestive tract together with the solid organs that drain into it. For cancer that has spread across the peritoneal surfaces he performs cytoreductive surgery with HIPEC.

His entire medical training was completed at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi: MBBS, then MS in Surgery, then MCh. That is an unusually consistent path through a single institution. He is also a certified robotic surgery proctor, which means he mentors other surgeons through complex robotic GI-HPB oncologic procedures rather than only performing them himself.

He sits on the executive committee of the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology. He has published over 50 PubMed-indexed papers and several book chapters, including in The Lancet Oncology, and appears as invited faculty at major GI-HPB conferences in India and abroad. Against 19 years in practice, that output is the clearest marker of the academic half of his work.
