Dr. A.V. Ramesh

Dr. A.V. Ramesh is one of India's most experienced ENT and cochlear implant surgeons, with a career spanning more than three and a half decades. Currently serving as Director of the ENT and Cochlear Implant department at BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital in New Delhi, he brings rare depth of expertise across ear, nose, throat, and skull base conditions. His work has given the gift of hearing to patients — including children — who had little hope before.

Dr. Ramesh's journey is built on an exceptional foundation of training. Beyond his postgraduate degrees in ENT, he pursued advanced fellowship training in otology at the KKR ENT Research Institute in Chennai, then travelled to France to train in endoscopic lateral skull base surgery at Hospital Nord in Marseille. He also completed a fellowship with the Society d'Otologie Pratique in France under the prestigious Eli Aizer Sultan and Indian Society of Otology programme — giving him a truly international perspective on complex ear surgery.

Much of his career was shaped by 33 distinguished years in the Indian Army, where he rose to the rank of Brigadier. He served as Professor and Head of the ENT Department at Command Hospital in Lucknow, and later as Senior Advisor and Head of Cochlear Implant Surgery at Army Hospital (R&R) in New Delhi. During his military tenure, he performed over 150 cochlear implant surgeries and personally trained a generation of ENT surgeons in this highly specialised technique. That culture of mentorship and precision continues to define how he works today.
