Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Barky

Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Barky is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon with more than 25 years of clinical and surgical experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Medicine (1997) and a Doctor of Medicine degree (2005) from Benha Faculty of Medicine, Benha University, Egypt, and completed his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in Ophthalmology at the University of Glasgow, UK in 2006.

Prof. El-Barky brings dual academic appointments as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Benha University, Egypt, and an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He is currently Head of Department and Consultant Ophthalmologist at Burjeel Medical City, Abu Dhabi.

His clinical expertise spans surgical and medical retinal conditions, including complex vitreoretinal procedures for intraocular foreign bodies, trauma-related retinal pathology, and diabetic retinopathy complications. He also manages age-related macular degeneration and retinal vascular disease. Prof. El-Barky designed the El-Barky Vitreoretinal Chopper, a specialized surgical instrument manufactured by Geuder Company, Germany, for managing dropped hard cataracts.
