What is Esophageal Manometry?
Esophageal manometry measures pressure patterns in the oesophagus to classify swallowing disorders such as achalasia before dilation, POEM or anti-reflux decisions. A thin catheter is passed through the nose into the oesophagus. The patient swallows measured sips while sensors record pressures. The study is later interpreted.
