What is Biliary Stenting?
Biliary stenting places a plastic or metal tube through an endoscope, usually during ERCP, to drain a blocked bile duct caused by stone, stricture or selected tumours. During ERCP, the duct is cannulated and a guidewire is placed. The chosen stent is deployed across the stricture or after stone work. Cholangioscopy is not assumed.
