What is Stroke Thrombectomy?
Stroke thrombectomy retrieves clot from a large intracranial artery during acute ischaemic stroke when imaging already shows an occlusion that endovascular removal may reopen. From arterial access, a stent retriever or aspiration catheter engages the clot. Recanalization is checked on angiography. The patient recovers in a stroke or neuro-ICU.
