What is Aneurysm Clipping?
Aneurysm clipping places a microsurgical clip across the neck of an intracranial aneurysm so blood no longer fills the sac, after angiography has already written an open rather than endovascular plan. A craniotomy exposes the parent vessel. Temporary clips may be used while the definitive clip is placed across the neck. Intraoperative angiography or Doppler may confirm exclusion. Neuro-ICU vasospasm watch follows if the aneurysm had ruptured.
