What Is Migraine Nerve Block?

A migraine nerve block injects local anaesthetic, sometimes with an additional agent, around selected occipital or pericranial nerves to interrupt pain signalling.

After skin preparation, a small volume is injected near the greater or lesser occipital or another selected pericranial nerve using landmarks or ultrasound when indicated.

This is a local occipital or pericranial injection, not Botulinum Toxin Therapy. Drug, side, nerve target and whether steroid is used must be stated.
