COMPONENT THERAPY APPROACHES: 1. Indicated in DIC, afibrinogenemia, and von Willebrand disease type 3 when fibrinogen <1.5 g/L. 5. EXCHANGE TRANSFUSION (Automated Erythrocytapheresis): Used in sickle cell disease (HbSS) to rapidly reduce HbS% to <30% (target in acute chest syndrome, stroke, priapism, or pre-operatively).
