Why consider treatment in India?
Many international patients consider India for unexplained infertility treatment for several reasons, including:
More affordable estimates
Competitive indicative costs compared with many other countries, for similar clinical standards.
Internationally accredited hospitals
Hospitals experienced in treating international patients.
Experienced specialists
Doctors who regularly manage similar cases.
Care coordination support
A team to help with planning, medical translation and follow-up.
What is IUI?
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a fertility treatment in which specially prepared, concentrated sperm is placed directly into a woman's uterus around the time of ovulation to increase the chances of fertilization. It is commonly recommended for mild male factor infertility, unexplained infertility, cervical factor issues, or as a first-line treatment before moving to IVF. The procedure is minimally invasive, quick, and usually performed on an outpatient basis without anesthesia.
Who may be considered?
IUI may be considered after a qualified specialist reviews your reports and medical history. Suitability varies from person to person and must be assessed by your treating doctor.
How does it work?
The IUI procedure is timed with the woman's natural ovulation cycle, monitored through ultrasound scans and hormone tracking, without the use of ovulation-stimulating drugs.
Natural Cycle IUI
Minimal MedicationThe IUI procedure is timed with the woman's natural ovulation cycle, monitored through ultrasound scans and hormone tracking, without the use of ovulation-stimulating drugs.
Comprehensive Investigations
Hormone profile (FSH, LH, AMH, TSH, Prolactin), transvaginal ultrasound, semen analysis, ovulation tracking scans, HSV/rubella screening if required

Recovery and follow-up
Most women can resume normal daily activities immediately after the IUI procedure, with only mild cramping or spotting possible for a day or two; a pregnancy test is usually advised about two weeks after the procedure.
Risks
IUI is a low-risk procedure, though mild cramping, spotting, or infection risk can occur, and stimulated cycles carry a slightly higher chance of multiple pregnancy or ovarian hyperstimulation.
Alternatives
Depending on the cause and duration of infertility, alternatives to IUI may include timed intercourse with ovulation tracking, in vitro fertilization (IVF/ICSI), or donor sperm insemination in cases of severe male factor infertility.
