What is IUI?
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a fertility treatment in which specially prepared, concentrated sperm is placed directly into a woman's uterus around the time of ovulation to increase the chances of fertilization. It is commonly recommended for mild male factor infertility, unexplained infertility, cervical factor issues, or as a first-line treatment before moving to IVF. The procedure is minimally invasive, quick, and usually performed on an outpatient basis without anesthesia.

Recovery and follow-up

How is Female Infertility diagnosed?

How is Female Infertility treated?
Treatment for female infertility is highly individualised and depends on the identified cause, the woman's age, ovarian reserve, and overall health status—no single approach is appropriate for all patients. Non-procedural options such as ovulation induction with oral medications, hormonal therapy, or management of underlying conditions like thyroid disease may be sufficient for some women. When these approaches are insufficient, assisted reproductive technologies such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilisation (IVF) may be recommended, and in selected cases surgical correction of structural abnormalities may also play a role.
Can Female Infertility be treated without a procedure?
Many women with infertility are managed without surgery, particularly when the cause relates to ovulatory dysfunction or hormonal imbalance; options include lifestyle modification (weight optimisation, smoking cessation), oral ovulation-induction agents such as letrozole or clomiphene, and medical management of conditions such as PCOS, hyperprolactinaemia, or thyroid disorders. However, when causes such as blocked fallopian tubes, significant fibroids, or moderate-to-severe endometriosis are identified, non-surgical approaches alone are unlikely to be sufficient, and the most appropriate pathway will be determined by a qualified specialist based on individual findings.
