Why consider treatment in India?
Many international patients consider India for ovarian disorders treatment for several reasons, including:
More affordable estimates
Competitive indicative costs compared with many other countries, for similar clinical standards.
Internationally accredited hospitals
Hospitals experienced in treating international patients.
Experienced specialists
Doctors who regularly manage similar cases.
Care coordination support
A team to help with planning, medical translation and follow-up.
What is Oophorectomy?
Oophorectomy is the surgical removal of one (unilateral) or both (bilateral) ovaries, performed to treat conditions such as ovarian cysts, tumors, endometriosis, severe pelvic infection, or to reduce cancer risk in high-risk patients. It may be done alone or combined with removal of the fallopian tubes (salpingo-oophorectomy) or uterus (hysterectomy). The procedure can be performed via minimally invasive laparoscopy or open surgery depending on the underlying condition and suspicion of malignancy.
Who may be considered?
Oophorectomy may be considered after a qualified specialist reviews your reports and medical history. Suitability varies from person to person and must be assessed by your treating doctor.
How does it work?
A minimally invasive technique using small incisions and a camera-guided instrument to remove the ovary, offering faster recovery and less scarring for benign or low-risk cases.
Laparoscopic Oophorectomy
Minimally InvasiveA minimally invasive technique using small incisions and a camera-guided instrument to remove the ovary, offering faster recovery and less scarring for benign or low-risk cases.
Comprehensive Investigations
Pelvic ultrasound, CT/MRI abdomen and pelvis, CA-125 tumor marker, CBC, coagulation profile, ECG, anesthesia fitness assessment

Potential risks include bleeding, infection, injury to nearby organs, blood clots, and early menopause symptoms (hot flashes, mood changes, bone density loss) if both ovaries are removed.

Depending on the condition, alternatives may include cyst aspiration, ovarian cystectomy (removing only the cyst while preserving the ovary), hormonal therapy, or watchful monitoring with regular imaging.
