Oncoplastic breast surgery combines cancer removal with plastic surgery techniques to achieve the best possible aesthetic result alongside complete cancer excision. In a standard lumpectomy, the tumour is removed with a margin of normal tissue, which can leave a defect or distortion in the breast shape. In oncoplastic surgery, Dr. Chowhan reshapes the remaining breast tissue at the same time as the cancer removal, resulting in a natural, symmetrical appearance. It allows removal of larger tumours while preserving the breast.
