What is Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy (ETV)?
Endoscopic third ventriculostomy opens a stoma in the floor of the third ventricle so CSF can bypass an obstruction without a first shunt, when anatomy already allows it. Through a frontal burr hole the endoscope enters the lateral then third ventricle. A stoma is created in the floor and inspected for flow. Closure and a short observation period follow.
