What is Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS)?
VNS implants a pulse generator in the chest with a lead around the left cervical vagus nerve to provide intermittent stimulation for selected drug-resistant epilepsy. Under anaesthesia, a generator is placed under chest skin and connected to electrodes wrapped around the left vagus nerve; stimulation is activated and programmed over later visits.
