What is Norwood Procedure?
The Norwood is first-stage neonatal palliation for hypoplastic left-heart syndrome and selected related single-ventricle lesions, constructing systemic outflow and a controlled source of pulmonary blood flow. The operation reconstructs the aorta using the pulmonary root, ensures unobstructed atrial mixing and establishes limited pulmonary blood flow with a conduit or shunt.
