What is Arterial Switch Operation?
The arterial switch operation reconnects the aorta and pulmonary artery to the appropriate ventricles and transfers the coronary arteries, most often for dextro-transposition of the great arteries. On bypass, the great arteries are divided and reconnected and the coronary buttons are transferred; associated VSD or arch obstruction may be repaired in the same episode.
